Compliance - 2004 Hours of Service (Logs)
Effective January 4, 2004

New Hours of Service Regulations

For the most part, Hours of Service regulations have not been revised since 1939. On January 4, 2004, the new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) revised Hours of Service will be in effect. The new regulations deal primarily with change of rest and driving time. Specifically the new rules increase driving time, rest time and prohibits driving after the end of the 14th hour. The general rules for the daily log remain unchanged (split sleeper, log book itself, what is considered on duty time/off duty time, adverse driving conditions, etc). However the total amount of driving, rest period and total workday have changed significantly.

-- Please note: You must follow the old rules until January 3, 2004 --
